Join us for a gathering dedicated to women’s histories in hair. Sip on tea and drinks, take home flowers (on us!), shop beauty products, and browse our curated readings dedicated to historically underrepresented contributions women have made in hairdressing in America.

About SALON:
Salon facilitates human connections centered around hair. Founded by Rubi Aguilar Jones in 2018, with the firm belief that Salons are community spaces and hairdressers are vital caregivers in their respective communities.

Recognizing the significance hairstylists have as the common connector in the diverse web of the clients they see, we cultivate real, in-person discussions, learning, and collaborations around hair through our core values of CARE, STUDY, and PRACTICE.

(SALON)Study - An active research center focused on the intersections of hair with culture, science, and art through a public library and studio space.

We acknowledge that the beauty industry we know today is a reflection of a history that has erased and/or historically not promoted contributions by women, BIPOC, and the LGBTQ+ community. We want to put these stories at the forefront, alongside scientific and cultural research that educates (outside the lens of a major product brand).

About The Potion Studio: The Potion Studio caters to the audience of men and women who value self-care, wellness, and creativity. They are typically busy individuals who lead active lives and have limited time for themselves. Our audience is also mindful of the products they use and their impact on theenvironment. They value natural ingredients and are seeking a product that will leave their hair feeling healthy, soft, and nourished. They appreciate products that prioritize innovation, creativity, and natural ingredients. Our customers are willing to invest in products that align with their values and help them feel their best, inside and out. With our focus on natural, nourishing ingredients and innovative formulations, we provide a premium beauty experience that appeals to this dynamic audience.

The Potion Studio founder Aziza: Aziza El Wanni, the founder of The Potion Studio grew up in Suriname, raised by a Caribbean mother and Palestinian father, and struggled to find hair care products suitable for her curly hair. Disappointed by mainstream products filled with harmful chemicals, she began creating her own natural "potions" at the age of 12. When she later moved to Amsterdam for her studies, the change in climate affected her hair, prompting her to refine her homemade recipes. As friends and family began requesting her products, she realized her passion could turn into a business. The Potion Studio was founded with a mission to create inclusive, natural, and effective hair care products for all hair types, recognizing that textured hair transcends race, nationality, and identity. The brand focuses on high-quality, chemical-free ingredients that nourish hair while promoting self-confidence and natural beauty. The Potion Studio aims to empower individuals on their natural hair journey, celebrating cultural diversity and encouraging people to embrace their authentic selves.
