SALON | 224 Roebling St

Sliding Scale: $75 - $125

We’re excited to announce an ongoing education series focusing on expanding, refreshing, and growing our skills in hairdressing through demos and conversations with stylists from our community.

Join us for an intimate conversation and demonstration with Cynthia and Yamie who will talk us through their experience designing, styling, and maintaining wigs on film, television, and theater sets and demonstrate how to put on and remove a wig. This class is open to anyone interested in learning a bit more about these industries and wigs in general. No prior skills or tools required.

*A note on pricing: (Salon)PRACTICE aims for pricing accessibility by establishing a learning network of artists that value sharing knowledge with each other through sliding scale prices. Thank you for supporting our community.

Get to Know The Stylists

About Cynthia: After giving herself her first haircut at the age of five with a pair of kid scissors, she went on to cosmetology school in her home-state of California. Upon graduation, she began working at a salon where she mastered the art of cutting, coloring, and styling. In 2007, she moved to New York City and began assisting some of the top hair and make-up artist for editorial shoots, fashion shows, commercials, and films — including the New York City Ballet and Prada. Since then, Cynthia has built a solid reputation as an enthusiastic and creative artist now working on hit tv shows such as Law and Order: SVU, Younger, Search Party and Dr. Death.

About Yamie: Yamilet, “Yamie,” has been a hairstylist for 12+ years. Originally from Las Vegas, where she worked for 5 years, since moving to NY she has focused her time in NYC on haircutting and styling. She splits her time between the SALON and styling and designing hair backstage on film/tv or in theater productions such as Merrily We Roll Along, The Welkin, and Give Me Carmelita Tropicana.
